British Columbia’s review of practices in the provincial oil and gas industry has finished its first phase, launched in January 2012. The non-profit Fraser Basin Council undertook public consultations focusing on practices related to flaring. Results have been submitted to the provincial government. It has not been announced whether the review will result in recommendations or binding requirements. Next steps for the second phase, a human health risk assessment, are expected to be announced before the end of June 2012.
