In 2017, the Delphi Group was retained by the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) and members of its Alberta caucus to undertake research in order to profile Alberta’s wind energy sector supply chain and its participants.

The purpose of the study was to gain a better understanding of Alberta’s existing strengths in the wind energy sector, gaps in the local supply chain, and opportunities for growing businesses, investments, and the relevant workforce skills to support industry growth in line with the Province of Alberta’s Renewable Electricity Program (REP).1 The REP sets a target to ensure 30% of Alberta’s electricity will come from renewable sources by 2030 and plans to add 5,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Secondary research for this study included a review of key industries.
